Shekhar Eye Care and Laser Centre was established on 17th sept 2010. Initially it was located in a rented place at Raja bazar near pillar no 70. The centre was established by young and dynamic Dr Chandrashekhar Kumar. He is a graduate from Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College, Kolkata. He has a brilliant academic career. He was awarded honors’ during his graduation. He is extremely talented in surgical skills. He later cracked one of the toughest examinations of medical field to get entrance in All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

He opted Ophthalmology and did his post graduation from the prestigious Rajendra Prasad Centre for ophthalmic sciences [R.P.Centre] AIIMS, New Delhi. Later he pursued his senior residency from R.P.Centre. He was awarded with the best senior resident award during his residency seeing his effective teaching skills. He is one of the fine corneal and refractive surgeons of India.

Later he also completed a short-term fellowship in surgical retina from Susrut Eye Hospital,Kolkata.

During his residency he contributed many new ideas in research. He was instrumental in description of many new and innovative research. Many of his works were published in international and national journals of repute. Some of his articles are published in international journals like Cornea, American journal of ophthalmology etc.

During his initial days he also served the people of his hometown in Aurangabad. He was very popular ophthalmologist in Aurangabad during this period. Due to increase of work pressure and other personal obligations he concentrated more in the main centre. With continuous hard work and dedication, he is  popular for his surgical skills, patient friendly and caring nature.

He continuously strived to deliver quality care at affordable price. With the idea of delivering quality he was first person to get NABH accreditation of an Eye hospital in the state of Bihar. Now Shekhar Eye Care and Laser center is committed to provide care to lowest section of the society. In this endeavor this centre has tied up with ambitious project of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Ayushman Bharat scheme. In this scheme the Ayushman card holder are given quality care, free of cost. The quality care is at par with care given to private patients of the institute. Gradually it is becoming one of the preferredcenters for Ayushman beneficiaries.

CGHS Scheme

Shekhar eye care and laser centre also provides treatment to CGHS beneficiaries at subsidized cost towards its commitment to serve the society.  Our centre is QCI approved centre.Both outpatient and Indoor services are provided to Central government health scheme beneficiaries.

Also Shekhar eye care center has tie ups with more than twenty insurance and TPA companies. We have been able to serve customers of various multinational and national companies through our large number of tie ups with various insurance companies and TPAs.

State bank retired employees, LIC employees, HDFC bank employees, BIT Meshra ,South BiharGramin bank and many more employees of various government and non-governmental employees are already getting their surgeries done through cashless scheme.

Community eye care

Shekhar eye care is well known for its community eye care initiatives. We conduct regular community outreach programs (#communityoutreach ) in outskirts  of Patna. We also organize free eye care camps at our main hospital. We have conducted eye care screening camps at many renowned schools of the town(#schoolscreeningprograms).

At Shekhar Eye Care there are dedicated, well  trained, polite and well-behaved staff. The sitting area is quite spacious. Pharmacy and optical are on the ground floor and quite comfortable for elderly patients. Wheelchair facility for the aged and debilated patients. In OPD consultation itself all routine comprehensive test are included at a nominal consultation fee.

We have #Orthokeratology (ORTHO-K) for the patients who donot want to go for LASIK and also useful for prevention of progression of myopia in early childhood.

In high myopia where LASIK is not the option patient can have the option of #Implantable contact lense(IPCL), available at our centre.

We also have done #keratoplasties and treat keratoconus. #Corneal tattooing with noble lamellar dissection method is also done at our centre.

We have advanced and the state of art phacoemulsification faros from Oertli (Switzerland) and laureate system (Alcon) and Zeiss Lumera (microscope), Optical Biometre(Aladin Topcon).
